Important Notice: WSET & Wine Scholar Guild Transition to Digital Certificates
We have some important updates regarding certification processes for both WSET and the Wine Scholar Guild (WSG). Both organizations are transitioning to digital certificates, though the details vary slightly. Please read on to see how these changes may affect you.
WSET: Full Transition to Digital Certificates from August 1, 2025
Following the successful introduction of digital certificates in 2024, WSET will fully transition to digital certificates for all qualifications starting August 1, 2025. This change is aimed at making certification faster, more efficient, and more sustainable.
What This Means for You

Faster delivery – No more waiting for paper certificates in the mail! Your digital certificate will be emailed directly to you.

Easy sharing – You can print your certificate or share it on social media and with employers.

Secure & verifiable – Your digital certificate will be secure and easily verifiable online.

No more paper certificates – From August 1, 2025, all successful WSET students will receive digital certificates only.
Key Dates & Details

Level 1-3 candidates taking their exams on or after August 1, 2025, will receive digital certificates.

Level 4 Diploma candidates awarded on or after August 1, 2025, will receive digital certificates, regardless of when their last exam order was placed.

Physical badges will still be sent from Caplan Wine Academy for the time being.

Since the digital certificates will be sent directly from WSET (not Caplan Wine Academy), it is VERY important that you register an account at the WSET Global if you don't have one already from this page:
At registration, please use the same email address that you are using for your Caplan Wine Academy account.

Wine Scholar Guild (WSG): Digital Certificates Starting March 1, 2025
To reduce shipping costs and minimize environmental impact, WSG is transitioning to digital certificates for all programs starting March 1, 2025.
What This Means for You

Students who pass an exam on or after March 1, 2025, will receive a digital certificate and a digital badge via email.
Badges:

Until May 31, 2025, passing students will still receive a pin as usual.

From June 1, 2025, students will receive instructions on how to purchase a pin directly from WSG if they wish.
Receiving Your Digital Certificate:

Your course provider (Caplan Wine Academy) will inform you of your exam results within 7 days of receiving them.

After 7 days, WSG will send you an email with instructions on how to access, print, and share your digital certificate and badge.
Can Wine Scholar Guild Past Students Request a Digital Certificate?
Yes! Legacy students (those who passed an exam before this change) can request their digital certificate and badge through their WSG account under the “My Certifications” page.
