Italy Wine Tours through
the Famous Vineyards of Tuscany
We've always enjoyed wine but became very interested in it after my wife and her friends arranged a wine tour through Tuscany in Italy for friends’s wedding last year.
We saw famous vineyards like Antinori where they served pioneering Super Tuscans such as Tignanello, and exceptional wines like Solaia, that is made analyzing and isolating the best sub-plots of the Tignanello vineyard. In the afternoon, we drove further into the Tuscan countryside, to the heart of Chianti Old town, to have local cuisine and wine-tasting at Castello di Volpaia. After this trip, we became much more interested in wine.
Enjoy Learning with People from
All Over the World
My wife is originally from England, so WSET is well-known there.
I was particularly interested in this school as it's very international and one of a few schools that teach wine in English so that I can learn with my wife. It's fun to learn about wine with people from all over the world; France, Germany, England, US, UK, and of course Japan.
Coming here is much more fun than I thought because everyone has been very nice, teachers have been welcoming, and meeting international people is very fun. I wish my classes at university were this fun!
WSET Logical and Systematic Approach
I really like the structure especially because I didn’t really know about wine before. Level 1 is very gentle and easy covering the basics, which I think is very important when you learn something new. It’s extremely systematic and properly covered everything from wine-making, region, characteristics, even the tasting. Level 2 is much faster pace, but still very in depth. I like the way to go through everything fast and trying to understand before tasting the wines. When it comes tasting the wines, you can speak more about it because you learned the terminology. I really like the system and the structure.
Also, I am not sure how far I plan to study, but I like to have the option of being able to study all the way through to WSET Level 4.
Speak about Wine with Our Friends
We go out quite often with our friends and social groups and all of them enjoy drinking wine very much, so it’s nice to be able to speak about when you are trying to decide as a logical what wine to get with the components of foods.
The other point is being able to better fine-tune my preferences. Slowly, you'll be able to identify different flavors and characteristics and you'll better understand what type of wines you like or don't like.
We enjoy eating out a lot, so I would like to better understand the wines we are drinking. Also, we plan to go to California and France in the near future, so would like to know more about these wine-making regions before we go there.
