Spanish Wine Scholar <Intensive Course>

The Spanish Wine Scholar education program is designed to provide committed students of wine with the most advanced and comprehensive specialization study program on Spanish wine bar none!
The main wines of each region will be examined, explained and tasted, under the guidance of a Wine Scholar Guild and WSET certified instructor.

Included in the student fee you will receive the best textbook on Spanish wine ever written in English, structured to make learning easier and enriched with beautiful maps.

The fee includes access to the Online Campus where you can find multimedia E-learning modules for each region with full audio narration as well as:

• Review quizzes and learning games for self-evaluation
• An Instructor Q&A forum for personal assistance
• Student forum for community interaction
• Downloadable maps

Anyone can join in the course, but we recommend that students have successfully completed, at a minimum, one of the following programs before enrolling: WSET Level 2, JSA Expert/Advisor/Sommelier, Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) or Court of Master Sommelier's Introductory Sommelier Certificate.

The Spanish Wine Scholar program is also a great resource and supplement for students of wine moving toward advanced general wine study programs such as WSET Diploma (level 4), Master of Wine, Court of Master Sommeliers’ Advanced Sommelier (level 3 and up) or Society of Wine Educator's Certified Wine Educator (CWE).

Caplan Wine Academy was the first wine school to introduce the Wine Scholar Guild programs in Japan in 2019, and at present the only provider who regularly holds all the three flagship programs: French, Italian and Spanish Wine Scholar.
Our Academy was selected as Italian Wine Scholar provider of the Year 2019, further proving the quality of the experience we offer to the students.

Our educator, Ettore Donadeo, holds the French, Italian and Spanish Wine Scholar, all three passed with Highest Honors. He is an official Rioja Educator and Cava Educator. He is a Certified Educator for both the Wine Scholar Guild and the WSET, having passed the WSET Educator Training Program.
He was chosen as Italian Wine Scholar Educator of the Year 2022, a proof of its teaching skills and passion towards wine education.

The wines used at lesson are chosen directly by the educator after extensive tastings.
They are selected for their quality and their typicity to showcase the wines features, and they are meant to reinforce the theory concepts learnt during the course of the lesson.
